Compare PrepCoach
Choosing nutrition coaching software? Here's how they compare.
I built PrepCoach, so I'm biased. I'll still be straight with you: PrepCoach, That Clean Life, Practice Better, Trainerize, Everfit and Nutrium are built for different jobs, and one of the others may suit you better. Here's how to tell.

The part I built it for: changing a plan
Building the first plan is the easy part. The time goes into week four, when a client's calories drop by 200 and every meal, every portion and every alternative has to be redone. That's the job PrepCoach does for you.
Every meal gets its own calorie and macro target, and the portions are sized to hit it.
The day splits across meals evenly or by your percentages. Add or remove a meal and it re-splits.
Take 200 calories off, pick the macros, and every meal and alternative updates.
Swap in any saved meal and it's resized to hit the old meal's protein, carbs and fat.
Your clients' meal options refit on their own whenever the meal or the targets change.
The Short Version
Which one fits the way you coach
PrepCoach is a macro plan editor. You set calories and macros, build meals from your own foods, and PrepCoach works out the portions so every meal lands on its numbers. When the targets change, the whole plan updates with them.
PrepCoach
You coach to calories and macros, change them often, and want a client app, check-ins and messaging included.
That Clean Life
Your plans are built around recipes with photos, ready-made templates or vitamins and minerals.
Practice Better
You need booking, billing, video calls and food journals in one place. Meal plans come through That Clean Life.
Trainerize or Everfit
You mainly program workouts, and nutrition is an add-on to your training app.
Nutrium
You're a dietitian who needs micronutrient assessments, appointments and invoicing.

Why PrepCoach is $39.99
- Everything is included. Meal plans, the client app, check-ins, messaging and grocery lists are all in the one price. With the others you usually add a second tool or a paid add-on to get the same set, which puts most of them at $65 or more a month.
- It does the math the others don't list. PrepCoach sizes every food in every meal to that meal's macros, and when you cut or add calories it updates every meal and alternative in one step.
- Your clients pay nothing. They get the app free on their phone and on desktop.
If you only need recipes, or you're a dietitian who needs vitamins and minerals, one of the others may cost less for what you need. That's fine. If you coach to macros, try PrepCoach free for 14 days and see how much time it saves.

Questions
Common questions
Is PrepCoach a That Clean Life or Trainerize alternative?
For coaches who build macro-based plans, yes. If your plans are mostly recipes, I'd honestly stick with That Clean Life. If you mainly program workouts, Trainerize or Everfit does that and PrepCoach doesn't.
Can I use my own foods?
Yes. You add your own foods, start from a small built-in list, or search USDA FoodData Central and import what you need. Then you save meals and reuse them across clients.
Do my clients have to pay for the app?
No. Clients use the PrepCoach app free on their phone and on desktop. They see their plan, switch between the meal options you set up, check off meals, send check-ins and message you. Only the coach pays.
Does it work for high-carb or endurance plans?
Yes. PrepCoach works with whatever calorie and macro targets you set. You can also give long-run days, rest days or race weeks their own targets.
How much does it cost?
Coach plans start at $39.99 a month for up to 10 clients, with the client app included. You can try it free for 14 days.
